Sri Lanka is a year-round destination, but weather varies by region due to monsoons. The south and west coasts are best from December to April, while the east coast is best from May to September.

Transport & Travel
4 questionsYes, all tours include a private, comfortable vehicle with an experienced driver.
Every day adds 120 km to a shared trip total, so a 10-day trip includes 1,200 km. It is pooled across the whole route, not capped each day, so a short day leaves room for a longer drive later. If the full route runs over the total, a small per-km surcharge applies and you always see it before you book.
This is a fully private tour. You travel with your own group in a private vehicle with a dedicated driver, no strangers, no shared schedules.

Travel Documents & Entry
2 questionsYes, most travellers need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to enter Sri Lanka. You can apply online before arrival through the official ETA portal, it usually takes a few minutes and is valid for 30 days with double entry. Citizens of a few countries enjoy visa-free entry; check the official site for the latest list.
No vaccinations are mandatory for most travellers, but routine vaccines (Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus) are recommended. If you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever, a vaccination certificate is required. We recommend consulting your doctor before travel.
Money & Payments
2 questionsMost places use the local currency, the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Foreign currencies are generally not accepted in shops or restaurants, except in some hotels and tourist-related businesses. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in cities, hotels, larger restaurants, and supermarkets, but cash is recommended for small shops, local restaurants, and rural areas. You can easily exchange foreign currency at the airport upon arrival, as well as at licensed exchange counters and banks throughout the country. ATMs are widely available and most accept international cards, allowing you to withdraw Sri Lankan Rupees conveniently during your trip.
Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. In restaurants, a 5 to 10% tip is common if service is not already included. Drivers and guides are usually tipped based on satisfaction.

Packing & Essentials
2 questionsLight, breathable clothing is ideal due to Sri Lanka's tropical climate. Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are highly recommended for sightseeing and outdoor activities. When visiting religious and cultural sites such as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is required. Many religious sites also provide shawls or wraps at the entrance, but carrying your own light scarf can be more convenient.
Sri Lanka uses Type D, M, and G plugs with 230V/50Hz electricity. A universal travel adapter is recommended, and many hotels also provide adapters on request.
