Plain-English terms.
These are the terms that apply when you plan, book, and travel with SelFly. Written without legalese so you actually know what you're agreeing to.

Agreeing to these terms
- By submitting a trip request, confirming a booking, or travelling with us, you agree to these terms.
- If you book on behalf of others, you confirm you are at least 18 years old and are authorised to accept these terms for everyone in your party.
- These are the terms in effect on the date you confirm your booking. We may update them from time to time, and the version you agreed to at booking is the one that applies to your trip.
What we provide
- A custom Sri Lanka travel itinerary built around your preferences.
- A private vehicle (mini car, sedan, SUV, or van, your choice) with an English-speaking driver.
- Day-by-day route planning, recommended sites, and entry-fee guidance.
- Travel coordination support over WhatsApp, email, and phone before and during your trip.
- Our drivers may share informal local knowledge to help you enjoy your trip, but they are not licensed tour guides, and no professional guiding service is implied or provided.
What we do not provide
- We do not directly handle or arrange hotel reservations. All accommodation bookings and payments are made separately by you with the hotel or accommodation provider.
- We do not arrange international flights. You book your own arrival and departure tickets.
- We do not include site entry fees in the trip cost. These are paid directly by you when entering attractions.
- We do not provide travel, medical, or personal-accident insurance of any kind. Arranging comprehensive travel insurance before you travel is your responsibility, and you should not assume our vehicles carry passenger or tourist insurance cover.
Pricing & payment
- Prices are quoted in your selected currency, based on real-time exchange rates that update daily.
- The price confirmed in your itinerary is the agreed, binding price for your trip. Currency figures shown elsewhere on the site are converted at live daily rates and are indicative only.
- The base trip cost covers vehicle, driver, and itinerary planning. Extras like site entry fees, additional stops, or extended hours are paid separately.
- Payment is on arrival, you settle the full trip cost directly with your driver-guide in cash or by bank transfer. We do not currently take online payments or deposits.
- Cancellation is free at any time, because nothing is charged in advance. We appreciate early notice of cancellations so we can release vehicle and driver availability.
- SelFly reserves the right to decline or cancel bookings where communication is lost before arrival.
Booking flow
- Submit a trip request via our planner or 'Plan it for me' form.
- Within 24 hours we send a tailored itinerary with reference number, route, vehicle, and price.
- Once you confirm, we send booking instructions and payment terms.
- You can edit your itinerary up until we finalize it 7 days before arrival.
On the road
- Driver and vehicle details may be provided before arrival but can change due to availability, maintenance, or operational reasons. If a change is needed, an equivalent alternative will be arranged.
- Driver hours are typically 8 AM to 8 PM. Evening or late-night travel needs to be agreed in advance.
- Maximum daily driving is around 8 hours for safety. Long routes may need an overnight split.
- The vehicle is for the agreed itinerary, significant detours may be charged at a per-km rate.
- Please follow your driver's safety guidance. They know the roads, weather, and conditions best.
- We kindly ask guests to help keep the vehicle clean and treat it with care. Significant damage or excessive cleaning needs may incur a fair fee, assessed transparently at the end of the trip.
- Smoking, illegal substances, or unlawful activity inside the vehicle are strictly prohibited.
Itinerary changes
- Every stop in your itinerary is planned to fit comfortably within the day. Starting on time and keeping a relaxed, steady pace leaves room to enjoy them all. What you cover each day depends on how you choose to spend your time.
- Small changes during the trip (a different lunch spot, a slightly different timing) are easy, just ask your driver.
- Major changes (adding a new destination, extending the trip) need to be agreed with our office and may affect cost.
- Travel times shown in itineraries are approximate and may vary depending on traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Activity start times and durations are estimates. Sites may close early, run late, or impose new restrictions outside our control.
- Weather, traffic, or strikes can occasionally force a change. We will always work with you to find the best alternative.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate booking information, including passenger names and arrival details.
- Hold a valid Sri Lanka visa or ETA on arrival.
- Treat your driver, guide, and all locals with respect.
- Bring suitable clothing, footwear, and personal medication for your activities.
Travel involves risk
- Travel carries inherent risks. Road conditions, weather, wildlife, and activities such as hiking, safaris, and water-based experiences can be unpredictable. You take part in your trip and all activities at your own risk.
- You are responsible for your own health, fitness, and safety decisions, for following your driver's safety guidance, and for holding your own travel and medical insurance.
Insurance & medical care
- SelFly does not provide, and is not responsible for, travel, medical, evacuation, or personal-accident insurance.
- You must arrange your own comprehensive travel insurance before arrival. You should not assume any vehicle used for your trip carries passenger or tourist insurance cover beyond the minimum the law requires.
- In a medical emergency we will help you reach assistance, but the cost of any treatment, evacuation, or related service is your responsibility.
Liability
- We act as a trip planner and private transport provider, and we take reasonable care in arranging and delivering our services.
- We are not liable for losses caused by third parties you transact with directly, such as hotels, restaurants, and attraction or activity operators.
- We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, civil unrest, strikes, road closures, or weather.
- To the maximum extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, our total liability to you for any claim connected with your trip is limited to the amount you paid to SelFly for that trip, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Your indemnity to us
- You agree to cover SelFly for any loss, damage, fine, or claim that results from your own actions or negligence, your breach of these terms, or any unlawful conduct during your trip.
Photos & content
- We only use your trip photos and videos publicly, for example on our website or social media, if you give us permission. You can grant or withdraw that permission anytime from your booking page, and we record the date of each choice.
- If you withdraw permission, we'll stop using your photos and videos and remove them from our own website and social media where we're able to. Withdrawing permission does not affect any use that already took place while permission was active.
- All website content, itinerary documents, text, and images provided by SelFly remain our property and may not be copied or resold without our permission.
Governing law & general
- These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and any dispute is subject to the courts of Sri Lanka. Wherever possible, we'll try to resolve concerns with you directly and amicably first.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
