Colombo and Negombo, the island's arrival and departure point

Most trips start or end here, since Bandaranaike International sits just north of Negombo and Colombo is the obvious base for a night either side of a long flight. Negombo is the easier landing, a fishing town with a long beach and a short drive from the airport; Colombo is the working capital, with more to see if a day is set aside for it but less reason to linger on a trip built around the rest of the island.
