Yala, Udawalawe, and Wilpattu: leopards, elephants, and open scrub jungle

Three very different safari parks, close enough to combine with a south-coast or cultural-triangle stop. Yala has the island's best-known leopard sightings but also its busiest jeep tracks in high season; Udawalawe is more reliable for elephants and stays a little calmer; Wilpattu, further north, sees far fewer visitors and rewards patience with sightings that feel less staged. Morning and late-afternoon safaris both work here, timed around when the animals are actually moving.
